POST     COMMENTARY

Islam is the religion of mercy and joy. There is no exaggeration about it. Muslims are asked to feel happy concerning their merciful Lord, their glorious and eloquent book, their highly moralized  prophet and their highly civilized religion. Everything about Islam urges and encourages Muslims to be content, satisfied, moderate and away from fanaticism. Islam doesn’t object to being happy, having fun or celebrating. So Friday is a Muslim’s weekly feast, when Muslims celebrate. Eid Ul Fitr and Eid Ul Adha are two feasts,  when Muslims celebrate, have fun and joy.  In Islam, feasts come as a reward after some endeavour a Muslim has made. After fasting for a whole and complete month of Ramadan, comes Idul Fitri. This is for Muslims to sense and feel the favour of their Lord. This is because they have been trying hard to please their Lord by observing their fast well. Similarly comes the Al Adha feast after the long and exhausting journey of pilgrimage. For Muslims who are not performing  pilgrimage, they fast on the day  of Arafat. This endeavour and effort done by Muslims is rewarded by the Al Adha feast.
