POST      COMMENTARY

The Holy Quran only states the command : ‘ Perform the prayer  give Zakat’. The details of how to perform the prayer are mentioned in the Sunnah. On many occasions, the prophet said ‘Pray in the way you saw me do so.’ Every deed starts with the intention to do so. The location of the intention is the heart. So it is unnecessary to express one’s intention aloud. The Sunnah shows the number of rakat in each prayer. The dawn prayer is two  rakat. The noon prayer is four rakat, and so is the Asr prayer. The Maghrib prayer is three rakat. The Eisha prayer is four rakat. A rakat is a set of actions and sayings. To start praying, a Muslims ‘stands upright’ and directs their face to the Qibla, towards the Kaba in Makkah. Then a Muslim raises the hands to the earlobes and says ‘Allahu Akbar’. After that a Muslim recites surat al- Fatiiha and some Quran. Then, they bow and say ‘Subhana rabbiyal Azeem’ thrice. After that, a Muslim stands upright again, saying ‘ Same’a Allahu leman Hamidah.’ Then, a Muslim prostrates, putting the forehead on the groun saying, ‘Subhana Rabia al- ‘Aala’ thrice. After saying Allahu Akbar, a Muslim sits down and prys to his Lord. Then, a Muslim prostrates once more. Finally, a Muslim stands upright again, and this this called a Rakat.
