hellfire
Have you ever been asked that why has Allah created us, given us the option of obeying Him or not and then created hellfire to punish us? Or, if Allah is so Merciful, so Kind, why has He created the hellfire in the first place? Why does Allah need us to punish? These questions are often asked by non believers and unfortunately, sometimes by some Muslims as well. There are two points of view to look at this set of questions; the non believer view... Verily everyone, definitely is going to meet Allah (for judgment) so who is the miserable? The miserable, is the person who does not rejoice upon meeting Allah. You may complete, or accomplish something, which you are pleased with and so you show it, for example, to your father. It may be, that by the Decree of Allah, your father won’t rejoice with it. Or maybe you complete, or accomplish something at work, when you show it to your boss, he is... Continue reading

QUESTION: I have started to become committed recently, praise be to Allaah. In our area there is the Jamaa’at al-Tableegh, who go out for thirty days or more. People say different things about them. Some say, don’t go out with them, because their going out is an innovation (bid’ah) and they have some mistaken ideas. Others advised me to go out with them. What is the correct view concerning that? Should I go out with them or not? ANSWER: Praise b... Continue reading

One of my friends gave me a book in which I have found that anyone who recites the last ten ayahs (verses) of surah Al-Imran will get the same reward as a person who did ‘ibadah (worship) all night. Is there any authentic hadeeth (prophetic report) to support this? Praise be to Allah. Firstly:  We do not know of any saheeh hadeeth (authentic report) from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) which would indicate that the one ... Continue reading

I just got told by a friend that by reciting the Surah Qadr the sins of 40 years will be forgiven? Also it should be read after the completion of wudhu? I am aware that we should recite bismillah before starting wudhu and after finishing it we should recite the kalimah shahadat. Please clear away this doubt for me since I am not sure if any of this is backed by authentic hadith or not. Praise be to Allaah. There is no shar‘i basis for this idea... Continue reading

Is it okay for a person to have a favorite surah that they like to read/listen to and think about all the time? From a young age I have always loved Surah Al-Waqiah. I try to read the Quran as much as I can on a daily basis but am always drawn to Surah Al-Waqiah. It brings about all sorts of wonderful emotions such as love, hope and gratitude, but also extreme fear and terror of ending up in the fire. Whenever I am faced with a problem/stressful ... Is it permissible for me to start more than one khatm at the same time, without finishing the first khatm? i.e., I start the second one and the first one together, and end them together. Praise be to Allaah. The Holy Qur’aan is the Word of Allah, and reading it is one of the best acts of worship and dearest of the actions that bring a person close to Allah. The more a Muslim reads it, the greater the reward he attains.  It was narrated from ‘... Continue reading

Ibn Taymiyyah said, “The scholars disagreed concerning the reason for fighting the disbelievers. Is the cause for war their fighting or their state of unbelief? There are two famous opinions. The first is that the reason for war against them is their fighting and transgression against the religion and its people, and this is the opinion of the majority such as Malik, Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Abu Hanifa, and others. The second is that the reason for war ... Continue reading

Ibn Taymiyyah said, “The Prophet’s biography shows that he did not fight whoever made peace with him among the unbelievers; and the books of biography, prophetic traditions, exegesis, jurisprudence, and history are full of such acts and this is widely narrated in his biography. Thus, the Prophet did not initiate fighting with anyone, and had Allah commanded him to fight every disbeliever, then he would have initiated fighting with them.” [Qa’idah... Continue reading
