Hadith on Religion: O Allah, give him understanding of religion and the interpretation of the Quran

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, put his hand on my shoulder and he said, “O Allah, give him understanding in religion and teach him the interpretation of the Quran.”

ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ وَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيَّ أَوْ قَالَ عَلَى مَنْكِبَيَّ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ فَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ وَعَلِّمْهُ التَّأْوِيلَ

مسند أحمد وَمِنْ مُسْنَدِ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ المُطَّلِبِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ – اللهم فقهه في الدين وعلمه التأويل
